Think Hire Improve on Excellent Considerate Constructors Scheme Rating

2 Sep, 2024

In 2023, Think Hire were proud to be rated ‘excellent’ by the nationally recognised Considerate Constructors Scheme. Our score of 41/45 easily surpassed the 35/45 required for an excellent rating. However, far from resting on our laurels, Think Hire are delighted to announced that we have improved our rating for 2024, achieving an almost perfect score.

What is the Considerate Constructors Scheme?

The Considerate Constructors Scheme is designed to encourage construction companies, contractors and suppliers to be more considerate of their neighbours in the local community, of the environment both locally and globally, and of their workforce. Each element is judged out of fifteen, with simple compliance scoring nine points in each category.

Raising standards even higher

In 2023, we scored 13/15 for respecting our community and 13/15 for valuing our workforce. Naturally, as the pioneer of the Solartainer Versatile solar powered generator, the world's first adaptable solar hybrid generator, providing relocatable renewable energy solutions and solar hybrid power generation, we scored a full 15/15 for caring for the environment, giving us 41 /45 overall.

Our 2024 monitoring visit, August, showed further improvements across the board, including on our environmental performance, despite having scored top marks in this category last year.

How did we achieve this?

We raised our rating for community care to 14/15, with the report noting that ‘excellent consideration is being given to the impact on their neighbours.’ The monitor praised the company for its many ‘positive, company-wide commitments’, including:

  • Sponsorship of a local rugby club and a local junior Muaythai fighter
  • Supporting a local football club by providing an off grid battery system

We also raised our score for valuing our workforce to 14/15. The report commented on ‘an excellent, well maintained and inclusive workplace is being provided supporting and encouraging safety and health’ including:

  • Offering a university graduate scheme
  • Supporting apprenticeships

Improved environmental standards

Despite scoring maximum marks for our care for the environment in the last report, Think Hire still managed to impress the monitor with our ongoing sustainability efforts. The report noted several improvements in our environmental activities, including:

  • Adding an electric HGV to our fleet for deliveries and collections
  • Changing the flooring in the Solartainer solar powered generator from marine ply to 100% recycled plastic

A team effort

Think Hire founder and Managing Director, Neil Richardson, was delighted with the report, which the monitor described as a ‘most interesting and heartening visit’.

“This achievement truly reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire team at Think Hire,” he says. “We are committed to delivering top-notch renewable off-grid energy technologies, such as solar powered generators, in a way that’s considerate, caring, and respectful. I’m delighted that we’ve not only kept our excellent score but improved it!

“A massive thank you to everyone who played a part in this success!”
