The Long-term Benefits of Solar Generator Hire

At Think Hire, we have lots of examples of instances where solar generator hire has been used very successfully for a short-term project. But we’re often asked if these benefits are scalable. Does solar hybrid generator hire deliver the same kind of benefits during long-term use, especially when you factor in the increased hire costs?

As Cora Homes Ltd proved, long-term solar hybrid generator hire is every bit as good for the environment and for your budget as it is for shorter projects.

What was the Cora project?

Think Hire worked with Cora at their Stoche Acre development in the village of Stoke Golding, Leicestershire. As part of their commitment to minimise their impact on the environment, their aim was to significantly reduce their carbon footprint without impacting efficiency on site. Think Hire proposed Solartainer solar hybrid generator hire to provide power for the site. This unit provides hybrid power, using solar energy wherever possible, backed by a diesel generator to provide dependable continuity of supply 24 hours a day.

The project ran from 17th February until 30th November 2023, covering a variety of weather conditions, from winter storms to summer sunshine. This period also included a range of day lengths, from the shorter days of February and November to the longest days of the year in June, creating different demands on site lighting.

What was the impact of solar generator hire?

Over the course of the project, the solar hybrid Solartainer helped Cora achieve its objective by cutting their predicted carbon emissions of the site by 127 tonnes. That’s a massive 89% drop compared to the emissions of a standard diesel generator. The project also enjoyed an 89% drop in diesel fuel consumption.

In addition, the site reduced the level of noise pollution impacting local residents, with the diesel element of the Solartainer running for just 11.28% of the time, compared to a diesel generator, which would be running 24/7.

But what about increased hire costs?

Some customers may express concerns about the increased costs associated with solar hybrid generator hire compared to diesel generators.

While the cost of Solartainer hire may have been higher than just a diesel generator hire, the savings in fuel costs far outweigh this difference.

However, when you look at the bottom line, it is easy to see how the savings in fuel costs more than outweigh the extra cost of generator hire. During the 287 days of the project, the Solartainer used only 11% of the diesel fuel compared to the traditional diesel generator consumption.

Even with the extra cost of solar hybrid generator hire taken into account, the project still had significant savings, representing a 58% reduction in running costs.

Proven savings

Case studies like this show why Think Hire not only say we can save on operating costs, we actually do it. Make Think Hire your renewable energy partner and we will help you to cut running costs while also making significant reductions in your carbon footprint.

This cost-cutting applies to any project, whether it’s a two-week rail repair job or a nine month build of a brand-new housing development. Whenever and wherever your project needs power, Think Hire have the solar hybrid generator hire to match, from large scale Solartainers to the portable, flexible Solar Skyframe that can be deployed almost anywhere to boost your renewable energy production.
